My Background
I've loved art since elementary school, really. I've always loved textiles and materials and the way colors interact. Art was one of my favorite subjects in school (especially taking sculpture in college), but not, at least so I thought at the time, a good career choice. I tried a couple different avenues in school, but ended up with a B.S. in Chemistry. I like little bitty glassware (tiny condensers are so fascinating)! I also tried several avenues in my professional career: I tried to be a chemist, then a technical writer, a trainer for computer software, and now, with a family to take care of (I'm a work at home Mom), am realizing that I find the most joy in creating and making -- with anything I can get my hands on. I adore wood: shaping, carving, turning. I love leather: carving, sewing, wearing. Glass still holds absolute fascination for me, and in 2004 I started making my own glass beads. I think I can generally be categorized as a sculptor, as if categories have ever fit around me. I still enjoy some computer work (I love that I use XML on my site, and I still enjoy programming for myself), and maintain both my business site and my personal site. I also have a personal recording studio and do occasional voice over work.
